Packaging Cell Lines

Using virus packaging cells is a convenient way of producing infection-ready viruses. It requires a minimal amount of background knowledge or experience of working with viruses. Amphotropic and Ecotropic cells are the most popular retrovirus packaging cell lines and will satisfy all typical requirements of producing and using retroviruses. We have upgraded our custom packaging method to a more efficient system that routinely result in a titer of 108 or above. Allele has stopped offering the previously known Phoenix ampho and eco cells. A similar Ecotropic and Amphotopic packaging cell lines , Phoenix 2, originated from different sources are currently available. Allele's packaging cells are carefully maintained at Allele in order for them to remain functional and stable.

  • Simply transfect and collect virus
  • Viruses for infecting most mammalian cells

bFGF-Producing Feeder Cells

Irradiated mouse MEF or human fibroblasts that express bFGF to support iPSC growth are provided as ready-to-use vials. Simply thaw and plate as feeder cells. MEF is good for mouse iPSC reprogramming; for human iPSC, human fibroblast feeders are preferred.

  • Already irradiated and tested, ready-to-use
  • MEF for mouse iPSCs, human fibroblasts for human iPSCs
  • Expresses bFGF, so there is no need to supply recombinant bFGF as a medium supplement

Sapphire™ Sf9, sf21 and T.ni Insect Cells

Allele Biotech provides the Sf9 and Sf21 cell line derived from pupal ovarian tissue of the Fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda as well as Trichoplusia ni, derived from the ovarian cells of cabbage looper.

The Sf9 cell line is highly susceptible to infection with Autographa california nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcNPV baculovirus), and can be used with all baculovirus expression vectors.

Sf21 and T. ni (Trichoplusia ni) cells grown in serum free media are used typically for protein expression and production since these cells were especially adapted to serum free condition

Sapphire™ Insect Cell Culture Medium

Allele Biotech offers TNMFH and Serum Free medium for Baculovirus expression system (BVES). The TNMFH is the standard classical growth medium for insect cells and is supplemented with the highest quality FBS to maximize high virus titer yield. Our proprietary serum free medium is ultra high performance and designed for culturing insect cells in suspension to reach >46 cell/ml.

AlleleValid Fetal Bovine Serum

We test on five cell lines --more than our competitors. BHK-21 and COS-7 are workhorse cell lines that are widely used in tissue culture. The HeLa cell line is another widely used cell line that is also excellent for identifying high quality serum, which supports better cell attachment and growth. The L-292 cell line is very sensitive to toxins. SF-9 is an insect cell line that requires high-quality FBS to generate a high baculovirus titer. In summary, our performance testing is extremely comprehensive, only the highest quality FBS will pass

AvantGene Transfection Reagents

AvantGene™ is a broad range transfection reagent that efficiently delivers DNA molecules into a variety of cultured cells. AvantGene has been extensively tested by Allele scientists in HeLa, 293, 293T, CHO, COS-7, HUVEC, 3T3-L1, NIH 3T3, MCF-7, Vero E6, C2C12 and rat L6 muscle cells and found to be superior to many other transfection reagents.
