Cell Line Development and Cell Culture Services
Allele Biotech, now including Orbigen, has been a top provider of protein expression, cell based assay development and other tissue culture cell-related services. Our facility is equipped with a warm room, dedicated tissue culture room, roller bottle incubator and 20 liter spinner culture vessels. We have the capacity to provide large- and small-scale cell cultures to reduce your workload so that you can concentrate more on your core research.
Allele Biotech's Custom Project team has extensive experience in cell line establishment. We have built new cell lines that permanently express different reporter genes such as luciferase, GFP, and lacZ for cell based assays. Additionally we can develop lines to produce therapeutic proteins at industry production levels, or simply overexpress your gene of interest as an exogenous gene.
- Cell lines for Function assay in the fields of GPCR, ion channel, Kinase, protease et al.
- Cell lines for Reporter assay using Fluorescent Proteins (our patented mTFP1 and others ) or Luciferase.
- Cell lines for Protein Production.
Required Materials: Constructs for transfection, cells as host.
Deliverables: At least 3 vials of frozen cells or customer-specified number of independent single cell lineages at additional costs.

Allele Biotech has offered iPS solutions since iPSC was first reported in 2006, with a focus on the latest technology to advance and simplify iPS generation of ground-state, truly high quality iPSC lines. We carry all iPS factors on retrovirus, lentivirus, and as mRNA for truly footprint free iPS. While we use optimized cocktails of factors and fusions with unique protocols developed at our own facility, commercial customers need to realize that some of the factors may be under patent protection when used for certain purposes.
Some of the highlights of our iPS service are:
- Choose your method of induction: retrovirus, lentivirus or mRNA
- Quickest turnaround with the mRNA method in particular
- Customers are notified when clear iPSC colonies appear, and we take customer input regarding what to test for after obtaining colonies.
Required Materials: Customer-desired cells, 1 vial of typical storage size, and indication of appropriate growth medium and conditions. Currently most iPSC lines were created from fibroblast-type of primary cells; other cell types may not be appropriate using the current protocols.
Deliverables: We typically aim to deliver lines from 6 colonies (sometimes some lines may die off in the process) Customer specified quantity of cells or number of lines in customer specified format can be discussed.
Duration: 4 - 8 weeks generally, actual time will vary based on method chosen and additional customer requirements.

If your research requires cultures of transformed cells, primary cells, or stem cells, let us handle it for you. We can grow mammalian cells, insect cells, and plant cells; in suspension or attached. We are experienced with almost all types of culture formats such as traditional plates, flasks, roller bottles, and spinner vessels.
Required Materials: Seed cells. Please contact us should you prefer that we find the source of the cells for you. We have access to hundreds of different primary cells and many stem cells.
Deliverables: Cell pellet in storage format specified by the customer
