Neutrophil Granulocyte Chemotaxis

A complete reagent kit for the quantitative determination of neutrophil granulocyte chemotactic function using Flow Cytometry. Neutrophil granulocytes are the most common white blood cells in mammals; they are an essential part of the innate immune system and serve as one of the first responders to infection. This test allows for the quantitative determination of neutrophils that migrate through a cell culture insert toward a chemo attractant.

Work Flow

Neutrophils play an important role in the immune system regulating bacteria and fungi.  A number of conditions both genetic and acquired can alter neutrophil function, including:

  • Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency
  • Hyperimmunoglobulin E Syndrome
  • Chédiak-Higashi Syndrome (CHS)
  • Actin Dysfunction
  • Renal failure
  • Diabetes
  • Hepatic Cirrhosis
  • Hodgkin`s disease

In addition to these conditions, drugs and immunomodulators can enhance or decrease the chemotactic activity of neutrophiles.

  • A clear, consistent protocol that allows for dependable data generation using whole blood
  • Simple and sensitive method for the flow cytometric quantification of the chemotactic function of neutrophil granulocytes
  • A complete kit containing 24 analysis for 12 patients, includeing multiwell plates, precoated cell culture inserts for chemotaxis studies, the chemotactic peptide fMLP, antiboies, counting beads and additional necessary reagents
